This new trio features two musicians I’m always excited to go on the bandstand with. Evan and Angus each bring such energy and creativity and I’m fortunate enough to be along for the ride!
We each compose for the band and often play a mix of our music and tunes by our influences at our shows.

HOLON TRIO
The band was founded in 2014 when Mathias met Lukas Akintaya and reconnected with Povel Widestrand at their studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin. They quickly found an affinity for making music together, and when they started bringing in their own compositions they knew
This band is where I get to express my scandinavian roots.
Holon is originally from the Ancient Greek for a whole that is part of yet another whole. The three musicians who make up the HOLON Trio have given themselves this name, because the term encapsulates their combined musical world. For the members of the trio, their work together constitutes a fundamental part of their musical interests. In this intimate context, they have the opportunity to transform their stark individualism and emotions into music and pass this onto the audience. In this process, they make use of the great diversity of sounds inherent in a piano trio and develop an innovative programme rich in contrasts. All three musicians compose with their own personal voice for the trio and nevertheless manage to find a common thread in their collective work that reflects the emotions behind the music for the listener. Their music is resplendent with surprises; at times fragile, at times daringly experimental, the music that the three stellar young musicians play together represents what they want to share with the world. This depends on trust and their connection to one another — a collective feeling for the direction and the method of expression that their music can take. In so doing, they give rise to a magical concert experience that simply shouldn’t be missed.

The band was formed in the raw urban environment of New York in 2018. It’s project born out of a desire for an expressive spontaneity within deep grooves and high energy atmospheres.

Quiet People" is the self-titled debut album of New York City based chord-less quartet Quiet People. Featuring compositions from each member of the group, "Quiet People" is an introductory statement focused on melody-driven improvisation and spontaneous interaction.
